Progress Puzzle
You may love your job, but there will be days when the motivation to do it is just not there, especially if you are neurodivergent and struggle with executive functioning.
So I’ve created the progress puzzle.
Progress Puzzle activity
It's based on the well-known Pomodoro Technique, where you set a 25-minute timer and then have a 5-minute break, which naturally helps to break down tasks.
The progress puzzle is slightly different in that you fill in every puzzle piece with the tasks you need to get done in your block of time, and you colour them in as you complete each task.
Filled in progress puzzle
Once you colour in three pieces, you can have a small treat of your choosing, and once you complete all of them, you can have a larger treat, again of your choosing.
You can set yourself a timer to get all the tasks done if that is helpful, or set yourself the challenge of completing them by the end of the workday.
If you struggle to start a task, you can use this method to break one task down so it holds you accountable to finish it.
People with ADHD sometimes become frozen when they need to start a task because knowing how to begin a large task is hard.
Break that tricky big task into small, individual steps and reward yourself along the way. This can be for children or adults.
I hope you find it helpful. I’ve attached a free download so you can see how it works for you.
